This is definitely one of my favorite birds… Chestnut-sided Warblers nest in Beartown State Forest near my house in Stockbridge, MA. I woke up this morning at 5:30am – these guys start singing at first light so there were plenty of them flitting around the roadside where I was parked…
This shoot unfortunately didn’t last very long – to capture this kind of detail in the lower-light of the early morning flash is key… My Canon flash cable that connects the flash to the hot-shoe of my 5D Mark 2 cracked and fell apart. I am always amazed at Canon’s high-quality build cameras, flashes and lenses… and how some of their accessories are cheaply made and I find myself spending hundreds constantly replacing.
In total I shot about 30 frames before quitting, I am very happy to have gotten at least one walk-away.

LensScaper - What a great shot. Pin sharp and the bird is in full song.

A.Barlow - Man, that is one awesome shot! I always find myself fascinated at how dainty their feet are for some reason. Like seem almost to think to function.

Edith Levy - Beautiful Steve. The details and sharpness as perfect.
